10/29/09

After reading chapters 2-4 i like the character of Holden. Even though he is very cynical, I think represents a little bit of everyone in a way. Whenever he is talking to someone, he always has different thoughts going on in his head, which usually aren't positive, than what he is doing or saying. This makes him seem like he is a rude or arrogant person, but this is something that everyone does. They always have different thoughts going on in their head than what they are expressing to others. Also i think his thoughts are very similar to what everyone else thinks, like hating little aspects of people or being grossed out by people's certain features. He judges people very harshly but everyone has these thoughts, he's just the only person who is expressing them.

blog 1: Why do teenagers feel the need to rebel against the rules or against other people?

I think teenagers rebel against rules because many of them are at that stage where they are going to become adults soon. Many of them think they are already mature enought to make their own decisions so they dont like when other people try to control them or enforce rules on them. They want to prove to people that they can do things by themselves and they dont need anyone telling them what to do.
